02 Jun The Creative Moment
Nourishment from The Leader’s Muse Institute
This article is the first in a series about the “Creative Moment”, a concept I developed prior to writing my Leader’s Muse Dissertation, an idea which highly informed the dissertation, and one which continues to be extremely relevant today and in the future.
What is the Creative Moment?
In a world that often demands speed, efficiency, and quantifiable results, the notion of a Creative Moment stands as a quiet, yet profound, countercurrent. It is the flash of insight that emerges not from relentless striving, but from a state of deep attunement—both to oneself and the world around us. It is the pause that precedes breakthrough, the stillness in which innovation is born.
The concept of the Creative Moment first emerged for me during conversations with Alan Briskin, where we explored the intersection of poiesis—the act of bringing forth—and presence. It became clear that creativity, when truly understood, is not simply about novel ideas or artistic expression. It is an act of bringing into existence something entirely new—a manifestation of vision that did not exist before.
